Real-time UNHCR Data

UNHCR maintains an information portal with near real-time data about refugee populations around the world. This visual shows the number of refugees from Syria1 compared with the number from the Central African Republic (CAR)2. You can scroll over the chart for a detailed breakdown of the figures. The data for the Syria crisis is updated every two days. The CAR data is updated every week.

All of the data used in this chart is available in the Humanitarian Data Exchange and the UNHCR Information Portal.


1 This includes 23,367 Syrian refugees registered in North Africa. Regional demographic breakdown is based on available data from Egypt, Iraq, Jordan and Lebanon.
2 This includes refugees based in Cameroon, DRC, Chad and Congo.
